Introduction

The Kudat district is situated at the far end of Sabah, approximately a 3-hour drive away from the state capital of Kota Kinabalu. It is home to the indigenous Rungus people who are well-known for their bead-making craft as well as their traditional longhouses.

A journey to Kudat will prove to be an exciting adventure! Fishing enthusiasts can always rent fishing boats and discover the joy of deep sea fishing, whereas beach bums and water babies should opt for a cruise to the islands of Banggi.

On your way to Kota Kinabalu city, make some pit stops to Kampung Bavanggazo and see the famous Rungus traditional longhouse or go to Kampung Sumangkap to witness the age-old trade of gong making.

Also, hop to Kampung Tinangol for a chance to see how local handicrafts are made and visit the honey bee farm in Kampung Gombizau. Beach bums can also make a detour to Kalampunian Beach, which lies en route to the Tip of Borneo, and enjoy a relaxing dip.

Last but not least, a trip to Kudat will not be complete without setting foot in Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, the end tip of Borneo.
